Pros

  • Brings back the classic Aero option on newer Windows PCs

Cons

  • Can slow down older computers quite a bit by ignoring a hardware check

AeroEnabler is a program that allows users to use the Aero look on Windows Desktops.

Did you really love the Aero option on older versions of Windows? Sure, it was resource intensive and it didn't do much, but it definitely made things look unique. Unfortunately, this option has been pretty much left in the dust as Windows has attempted to give users a better experience even on lower-end PCs. If you really miss that option, you're not the only one. In fact, there are so many people who loved this option that the AeroEnabler program was made to bring it back.

AeroEnabler is a unique piece of software that really just does one thing - it brings back Aero. Not only does it enable this option on newer version of Windows, but it disables the hardware check that usually keeps older computers from running the option. At a practical level, this means that you can now run Aero even if your computer shouldn't be able to do so. That's right - no matter how much it slows down your computer and how bad it makes the overall experience, you can now modify Windows to allow you to use your beloved Aero.

As you might expect, this is a program with limited utility. If you really want Aero, this is the program for you. It's mostly for people who really shouldn't use the option but still want it anyway. If you're willing to sacrifice performance for looks, give this program a whirl. It's not going to improve your computer by any stretch of the imagination but you might feel more comfortable looking at your preferred options.
